Just Another Day At The Office

I am blessed! My "freelance" hosting career is realy taking off. How luck am I to be able to be able spend my days at "work" surrounded by amazing people in some beautiful locations.
Let's see...last October I spent a week in Bimini swimming with wild dolphins. A couple months later I was flown to upstate New York, where we showcased an amazing eco-friendly resort called the "Mohonk Mountain House." A couple months ago, I flew to Iowa to hang out with the wonderful folks at Hawthorne Direct, and today I spent the day in the beautiful Sonoran Desert taping a promotional video for TriVita Vitamins and Supplements. The crew was amazing and the weather was perfect. Next week, I am heading to Beverly Hills for an Infomercial followed by a shoot near Seattle at the "Suncadia" resort. Oh, and let's not forgot our Hotels.com shoot the middle of March in Kansas City. I hear there are some great steak houses there...

When I was laid off from the local tv station in Phoenix, I thought it would be tough to find a job that I enjoyed as much. Well, it looks like I have, and I am so thankful...

QVC, LAX and American Idol

Okay, so I bet you are wondering what those 3 words above have to do with each other, right? Well, let me explain....

QVC...This past week I received a call from Sean De Simone, a New York Casting Director. In a nutshell he told me that I had been selected to fly to L.A to meet with a couple of talent executives from QVC regarding a QVC Host position. I later found out that 6,000 people had sent in their audition tapes to become a QVC Host. After about 5 seconds of thinking about it I said yes and flew to L.A the next day to meet Jack, Sue and Sean. After spending 3 hours with them and 5 other very talented ladies, I am not so sure that I "wowed" them. I did my best, but I'm not sure that I showed off enough of my over the top personality. I left feeling that if they called, it would be very exciting, and if they did not....well, it was just not the right move for me. I should find out mid-March so stay tuned.

LAX and American Idol...So after my QVC audition, the shuttle brought me back to LAX where I had a 2 hour wait. I first noticed some camera guy chasing a "famous" musician (all I know is his name was John and he was in his 60's)through security, then noticed that because he was "famous" he was able to bypass the long line and go ahead of everybody else. Okay, now that really made me made. What makes him so dang special that he can just take cuts in front of all of us "normal" people and move on with his day. I'm sure we all have something just as important waiting for us on the other side of the security checkpoint, right? So after, I calmed down a bit I noticed a group starting to form around another smaller group. Well, to my surprise it was a couple of American Idol winners (bodyguards) and their families getting ready to fly home until the next taping. You could tell that they were not quite used to the instant fame, and seemed a little surprised every time someone came up to get an autograph or picture. You know I always used to think that I would never be one of "those" people asking for a picture with an A-List or even B-List celebrity, but I could not help myself. All I could think about was how cool it would be to get a picture with Danny Gokey and Michael Saver for my blog...so here they are. Enjoy.
